A Bracknell resident is selling an  ‘extremely rare’ Beatrix Potter 50p on eBay for a whopping £39,500

The coin is a 2017 issue 50p, featuring Benjamin Bunny from Beatrix Potter's childrens' story, The Tale Of Benjamin Bunny.

The item is listed on the online marketplace for close to 80,000 times its face value.

And it has already caught the eye of some buyers - with 10 people having it on their 'favourites' list, which sends updates on changes to the item.

The description reads: “Extremely Rare 2017 Beatrix Potter 50p The Tale Of Benjamin Bunny. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class Letter."

The seller joined the joined the site in May this year, and appears to have sold no other items.

The Benjamin Bunny 50p was the fourth of four Beatrix Potter character coins released in 2017, celebrating the life and work of Beatrix Potter.

The children's author was born in 1866 and published her first book - The Tale of Peter Rabbit - in 1902. 

Her books have gone on to sell more than 250 million copies. 

A picture-book cottage once owned by Beatrix Potter has recently gone on the market for £800,000. 

The chocolate box cottage was part of the children's author and illustrator's estate in the sought-after area of Bowness-on-Windermere.

The 2017 50p was designed by Emma Noble, who has depicted Benjamin Bunny wearing a floppy hat. 

Other coins featured that characters of Tom Kitten and Jeremy Fisher.

Some of the coins had a rare rotation error - meaning the picture of Queen Elizabeth II is facing 'down' when the coin is flipped over.
