A former popular Reading pub which has since been left derelict is up for auction once again after failing to secure a bidder.

The Jolly Anglers, which is situated along the Kennet side and near the Fisherman's Cottage pub, currently stands in a state of disrepair.

The property is up for sale on Rightmove with a price guide of around £410,000. It includes a rooftop pool.

Several signs still adorn the exterior of the establishment stating that it will be up for auction shortly.

Upon entering the pub, it is obvious how much has been stripped away by the previous owner.

All that is left in the downstairs area is reminiscent of the bar with a few remaining taps, a pool table, and some abandoned artwork.

Parts of the walls and ceiling have also been torn away to reveal patches of mold.

The window that looks out onto the riverfront is wide and bright. A new owner would benefit during the warmer months regarding the indoor/outdoor feel.

The toilets display much of the same wear and tear that the rest of the pub does, with dark markings on the wall and dust everywhere.

The upstairs, which is most likely used as the living quarters of anyone wishing to take over The Jolly Anglers, is also completely threadbare.

The rooms have no carpet, painted walls, and even no floorboards in some places.

However, it is expansive so whoever does take it over can enjoy a large living space.

The riverside pub previously underwent a 100K renovation where a swimming pool and poolside bar were installed.

The rooftop pool can be seen in the Rightmove advertisement.

Following news that the Jolly Anglers was up for sale, a ‘Notice of Possession’ was spotted at the entrance alongside the boarded-up doors and windows.

The letter from a Manchester-based company called CG&Co outlined that they had taken possession of the Jolly Anglers and changed the locks.

The notice said: “The Receivers of the Property [CG&Co ] have now taken possession of the Property by changing the locks to it and securing it from entry by anyone other than the receivers and/or their lawful agents.

“Having therefore entered into possession of the Property, the Receivers will then proceed to exercise any and or all of the lawful rights of management and or sale of the Property as may have been given to them by reason of their appointment.”
