90 people celebrated the "joy and wonder of nature" at a woodland event.

The event, which was run by Nature Nurture and Beat the Street, took place at The Cowsey on Saturday, November 2.

Visitors took part in a range of activities, including printing, painting, weaving, and clay sculpture using natural materials from the 20-hectare woodland in South Reading.

They also followed Beattie the Hedgehog's Trail, which took them through the woods and meadows on a hunt for clues.

In the ‘Nature Explorers’ zone, visitors used all their senses to connect with nature, including tasting Tilia tree tea, listening to the sounds around them and spotting a little wood mouse.

Those who completed the trail were awarded prizes by Beat the Street.

A young participant said: "My favourite thing was Beattie’s Trail.

"I liked it because you got to follow the clues to find the correct letters."

Attendees were also encouraged to vote for their favourite animal inhabitants of The Cowsey and share ideas for making the space more accessible.

A participant said: "I was so happy to know we have such a wonderful place.

"The organisation of the event was excellent, with every small detail thoughtfully planned.

"Kudos to the team behind it.

"I hope to see more events like this in Reading."

The event was supported by Reading Borough Council.
