A café run by three friends is thriving one year after opening.

The Good Brothers Café in Earley, which opened in October 2023, has become a popular breakfast spot in the area.

The owners, Armando, Nev, and Ali, have worked hard to create the perfect atmosphere, menu, and team to ensure success.

The trio saw a gap in the market for a breakfast café in Earley, where there were not many options, especially for those seeking halal breakfast food.

Ali Rahimi, 30, said: "We were just three friends, three brothers basically, that wanted to open up a breakfast restaurant because we saw a gap in the market for it in Earley.

"We've been working hard to understand exactly what to put on the plate and wha  people will like. We’ve spent the year researching, learning and practicing our craft to make things better for our customers.

"It took us a while to get it right, and we've been very blessed and lucky to make it this far.

"It's been nothing but growth and success."

The owners have travelled to different countries, including Turkey and various European countries, to experiment with different flavours and techniques for breakfast options.

They aimed to bring high-quality, affordable breakfast options to Earley, which they felt was lacking in the area.

The café has attracted customers from outside of Reading, including Bristol, Newbury, and Staines.

The owner explained: "It's really encouraging for us.

"It's what helps us to get up every day and try and push forward and make it better and better."

The past year has been a learning journey for the owners, who have taken customer feedback on board to improve their offerings.

They said the biggest challenge has been finding the right people to work with them, but they now have a dedicated and experienced team.

The owners had basic experience in hospitality before opening the café, but their passion, research, and practice have driven their success.

They said: "At first, we had a lot of experiments that didn't go exactly how we wanted, but that was the trial and error period.

"With a lot of research and courses that we took, as well as practicing every night, we started to understand this industry a lot better than we knew it a year ago."

The café's best-selling item is The Good Brothers Favourite (TBGF), a combination of a full English breakfast with pancakes, fruit, and clotted cream.

The owners said: "We like to give more than other people and do things that are better quality as well."

Looking to the future, the owners plan to introduce new menu items inspired by Turkish and French cuisine.

They said: "We want to unleash that access to certain items that customers would only get on holidays or if they're somewhere prestigious in London.

"We want to bring that here."
