Aldi is asking Berkshire shoppers to nominate local charities for a share of its £10,000 Winter Fund.

The fund aims to support community groups and food banks across the country leading up to Christmas.

Nominations will be reviewed by a panel of Aldi representatives.

The selected organisations will receive cash donations to help them cope with increased demand over the winter months.

Shoppers can email in the name and location of the organisation, along with a brief explanation of why they should receive the donation.

Liz Fox, Aldi UK's national sustainability director, said: "The winter period can be an incredibly challenging time for many people across the country and we are committed to doing everything we can to support those in need.

"We hope our shoppers can help us identify charities that could benefit from this donation to continue the incredible work that they do to help their local communities."

Entries will be accepted from Monday, November 11, until Sunday, November 24.

Shoppers are also encouraged to donate food to charities, food banks, and community groups via donation points in Aldi stores nationwide.

The move comes as many people face increased financial pressures during the winter months, with costs rising across the board.

Aldi's initiative aims to provide some relief to those most in need.
