The inquest to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of a Pangbourne woman at the centre of a murder probe has been confirmed.
On February 15, 2024, the inquest into the death of Mayawati Bracken, 56, of Chestnuts in Flower’s Hill, Pangbourne was opened.
Coroner, Alison McCormick stated that the provisional cause of death was recorded as ‘shock and haemorrhage’ due to a stab wound to her chest.
This was discovered in a post-mortem examination.
On December 3, Coroner Heidi Connor will establish the facts around the death including when, where and how the death occurred.
Mayawati Bracken, 56, of Chestnuts in Flower’s Hill, Pangbourne, was found inside a Lexus with 'a fatal stab wound' at around 5:45pm on the A340 Tidmarsh Road at the junction with Flower’s Hill on Thursday, January 4.
Thames Valley Police were called to the incident and Ms Bracken received medical attention but sadly died at the scene.
An inquest takes place if there is reasonable cause to suspect that the death was due to unnatural causes.
The inquest of teenager Julian Bracken - understood to be her son – who was fatally hit by a high-speed train at Pangbourne Railway Station will also take place on the day.
The inquest opening heard that 18-year-old Julian, who was a student, died from 'multiple injuries' according to the provisional cause of death from the post-mortem examination.
