Popular singer Will Young has agreed to sing at a fundraiser for a soup kitchen where he was born to help them find a new home.
The Pop Idol star, who rose to fame after winning the inaugural series of the ITV contest in 2002, visited the Newbury Soup Kitchen, of which he is a patron, last week.
The 45-year-old stated it was a ‘vital service’ for people and that it completes ‘incredible’ work.

He is now performing at the third annual fundraising event for the charity on Friday, November 22 to help raise money for the charity to find a new home.
It is taking place at the Vineyard Hotel in Newbury, and will also feature Rob Rinder MBE as auctioneer and compère.
Founder and CEO Meryl Praill said the fundraiser was even ‘more important’ this year because the charity needs to find a new home by March 2025.
They have been given notice to leave their operational unit and are looking for somewhere else to house their commercial kitchen, food storage, offices and two vehicles.

Speaking to the BBC, she said: "We already have a community hub but we need a building to put it in.”
She started the kitchen in 2017.
Young, who was born in nearby Wokingham, said the demand for the charity had increased in recent years.
