A Thatcham man has been recognised for his outstanding efforts in raising funds for a disability charity.
Matt Walburn, a long-time supporter of Swings & Smiles, received the Greenham Trust Fundraising Award for his dedication.
The charity, which provides accessible play spaces, respite care, and support for disabled children and their families, has benefitted from Mr Walburn's enduring commitment, which began more than a decade ago.
His personal connection to Swings & Smiles stems from his daughter Georgia's involvement with the charity, which has been a source of motivation for his continued support.
This year, Mr Walburn raised £7,000, bringing his total contributions to an impressive £11,665.83.
The funds have been earmarked to support Swings & Smiles' 14-19 programme, including Pulse, a service designed to help disabled teenagers transition into adulthood.
Additionally, the funds will contribute to the creation of a dedicated fire pit area and a teenage den, providing much-needed social spaces for young people to connect and relax.
Rhonda Nicklin, CEO of Swings & Smiles, expressed her gratitude for Mr Walburn's efforts.
She said: "Matt’s fundraising efforts have been extraordinary.
"His commitment to ensuring that we can continue to enhance our services and support the local community is inspiring.
"For him to receive this recognition is truly special to all of us at Swings & Smiles."
Recently, Mr Walburn took on the challenge of the Summer Green Man Ultra Marathon, a 30-mile race across Bristol.
His determination and commitment to completing the race in aid of the charity was acknowledged by Ms Nicklin.
She added: "Matt is a true champion for our charity, and this award is a well-deserved acknowledgement of his commitment to improving the lives of disabled children and young people in our community."
The Greenham Trust Fundraising Award is given to individuals and groups who have shown outstanding generosity and dedication in their fundraising efforts for charities.
The trust operates in the West Berkshire and North Hampshire area.
Since their founding in 1997, the trust has supported over 500 causes, distributed over £71 million.
