Residents have been remembering a very special young woman who was born in the Royal Berkshire Hospital almost 43 years ago.

The Princess of Wales, or as some may know her Kate Middleton, was born in Reading and grew up in Bucklebury, Berkshire.

Murray Leese posted to the popular Reading & Thames Valley Area 'Memories of another day' Facebook group a photograph of the young royal along with the following caption.

He said: "This young lady was born 42 years ago at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

"She was educated at Saint Andrews prep school and followed on to Marlborough College, but do you recognise the lady as she is now? She is our future Queen."

Almost one hundred members of the group flooded the comment section to share personal anecdotes, memories, and words of gratitude.

Some shared some personal stories regarding Catherine's birth at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, many expressing that they had given birth there too, or had been born in the same maternity wing.

One commenter wrote "My daughter and I shared the same ward," with another member responding "Catherine, she was born in the same hospital as me."

A further person said, "That's our Princess of Wales, 9th January 1982."

One member even reflected that they used to see the young royal out and about during the early years of her life.

They said the following regarding seeing the princess out with friends.

"Used to see her in either the Boot Stanford Dingley," they said. "The Pot Kiln Frilsham, or the Royal Oak Yattendon in her teens/early 20s."

Other members contributed get well soon wishes for the mother of three regarding her recent cancer diagnosis.

One member wrote "She will make a lovely Queen when the time comes, at the moment she needs time with her young family."

A further person responded to the previous comment and said "I so agree. I've been so worried about her recent health scare."

The Princess of Wales will host her annual Christmas carol concert this year, with the service reflecting on “how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives”.

Kate, who is recovering from cancer after what the Prince of Wales described as a “brutal” year, is going ahead with her televised festive event at Westminster Abbey on December 6, Kensington Palace announced.

The princess set her sights on being able to stage the Together At Christmas service in 2024 despite the health challenges she has faced, and it forms part of her gradual return to public duties after finishing chemotherapy treatment in the summer.

The Palace said Kate, who honoured the war dead at Remembrance events at the weekend, particularly wanted the service’s theme to celebrate those supporting others in need, with a focus on the importance of love and empathy.
