A fire crew attended the Christmas lights switch-on event to promote a health and wellbeing service.
On Saturday (16th November,) evening, the White Watch crew from Newbury fire station joined forces with Thames Valley Police (TVP) in the town centre to promote the 'Safe and Well Visit' service.
This free service is provided to eligible residents and is tailored to individual needs, relating to health and wellbeing and fire risk reduction.
The team also gave out festive safety advice and let people look around their fire engine.
The visit to the town centre was part of the crew's attendance at the Christmas lights switch-on event.
If a Safe and Well visit is arranged, the teams will show their service ID cards before entering the home.
During the visit, the team will ask a series of fire risk assessment questions; check each room of the property to identify any potential hazards; check that there are working smoke alarms on each level of the home and, where appropriate, fit free ten-year smoke alarms.
The team will also provide fire safety advice and show how to test smoke alarms; work on how to create an escape plan in case of a fire; and provide advice, signpost, or refer to partner agencies that can support with health or wellbeing needs.
