Thames Water has apologised to customers across Reading who have been without water today, as the firm promises more water collection points tomorrow.
The water outage, which began in the early hours of the morning, has hit residents of the RG9 and RG4 postcodes.
This includes Mapledurham, Sonning Common and Peppard Common.
Thames Water has set up a bottled water station at the Tesco Superstore in Henley-on-Thames - and has promised a new water station in a location to be confirmed tomorrow.
A Thames Water spokesperson said: "A Thames Water spokesperson said: “We’re very sorry to customers across Mapledurham, Sonning Common and Peppard Common (RG9 and RG4), who are experiencing low pressure or no water.
“This follows a burst water mains pipe on Reades Lane in Sonning Common, during the early hours of this morning (Monday 18 November). Our engineers have shut off water to the leaking pipe ready to carry out repairs overnight.
“To keep our customers in supply, we have two infusions in place, which is boosting water supply across the area. We are also preparing to set-up a third infusion of water, but this requires traffic management.
“During peak demand this evening, usually 5pm to 8pm, people may experience lower pressure than usual. Our bottled water station at the Tesco Superstore in Henley-On-Thames (RG9 4HA), will remain open until 9pm.
“We are also seeking a new location for tomorrow and will keep customers up to date via our website and through SMS.
“We have delivered bottled water to vulnerable customers on Priority Services Register.”
