Thames Water customers, including schools and businesses across Sonning Common have had their water supply reinstated today (19/11) after being left without water.
A large pipe was shut off to allow engineers to repair and restore supplies in the RG4 and RG9 postcodes.
This included schools and businesses in Sonning Common and Henley-On-Thames.
The schools that were forced to close yesterday – Sonning Common Primary School and Bishopswood School – have had their water reinstated.
Thames Water has apologised and said it had repaired the pipe just off Reade's Lane, Sonning Common overnight.
The water firm said water supplies were coming back on as water pressure was building back up again.
Mohammed Malik, 62, from Caversham told the BBC that his water came back on at 17:00 GMT but "when I got up at about 7am it had disappeared."
He said: "There was no water at all I couldn't flush the toilet or get a glass of water.
"There was no thought on the timing about this - why didn't they think about everybody getting to work and going to school."
Thames Water commented: “As our engineers continue to operate valves to return the area back to normal, you may experience low pressure.
"If you have low pressure and still require additional support, we have opened a bottled water station at Tesco, 359 Reading Road, Henley-On-Thames RG9 4HA."
