An independently owned hairdressers in Reading town centre has recently scooped a number of very prestigious awards since winning the same titles last year.

Ruby Reds, which is owned by Jane Sneddon and Jenny Lawton, has just won another four honours much to the delight of the whole team.

Ms Sneddon, who part-owns the salon on Merchants Place, said that she and her business partner had a wonderful time at the Salon Awards in London.

Both women and the team managed to pick up Best Salon, Best Salon Team, Best Customer Experience, and Best Colour Salon across the county.

"This is the fourth year on the trot that we have managed to pick up these awards," Ms Sneddon said. "We were just blown away.

"We all think it is absolutely incredible! We are just keeping on showing our success and the hard work that we have been doing."

Ms Sneddon went on to say that the whole team is full of pride and that they all have their customers to thank.

"Our customers mean so much to us," she continued. "They're loyal, they're so supportive of everything we do and Jenny and myself are literally blown away.

"It's incredible and such an achievement for a little independent salon like Ruby Reds. 40 years down the line since it opened and we are still thriving.

"Obviously Jenny and I have only owned it for the last five years but we are just taking every opportunity to drive it forward."

Ms Sneddon described the evening itself as glitz and glamour. Normally the whole team would go to the awards shows but it was just the two owners this time around.

This comes as the talented team of stylists walked away from last year’s Salon Awards with Best Salon Team, Best Customer Experience, and Best Colourist who was Ms Georgia Burgess.

The Salon Awards takes place every year in London and gives awards to salons from the north to the south of England.

Speaking to The Chronicle in 2023, the co-owner of Ruby Red Mrs Jenny Lawton said “We are so proud of our team. We have worked so hard and are really pleased with the outcome.

Mrs Jenny Lawton, 39, and Ms Jane Sneddon, 44, took over the salon in 2020 after having both been trainees there previously.

Mrs Lawton said: “We both trained here and now we own it! Jane has been at the salon for 27 years, and I’ve always been in the hairdressing industry. You could say I’ve come full circle.”
