The most and least adulterous towns in Berkshire have been revealed by a company that offers to connect people looking to have an affair. 

According to figures from the annual 'Infidelity Index' data provided by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK's 'leading affairs site', Newbury fond itself in the top 10 towns for affairs. 

Figures suggest that more than 5.23 percent of the town's population have had an affair in the last year. 

At the top of the list was Cheltenham - where 6.98 percent of residents may have been sneaking behind their partner's back. 

Not far behind Cheltenham was Farnham, Surrey, with 5.99 per cent of people allegedly cheating. 

In third place was Motherwell, Lanarkshire at 5.63 percent.

Commenting on this year's Infidelity Index results, sex and relationships expert at IllicitEncounters.com, Jessica Leoni that the Disney+ show Rivals may be 'fuelling some extra curiosity this year'. 

Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said: "A show like Rivals doesn't directly cause an affair, but its mix of forbidden love and glamorous Cotswold settings adds a layer of fantasy that can influence people's perspectives on relationships."

Since the release of Jilly Cooper's steamy TV adaptation on Disney+, sign-ups for the site across the Cotswolds have risen by 47 per cent, in what is being called 'the Rivals effect'

But not some areas of Berkshire are not lacking in loyalty. 

Bracknell reports just 0.36 percent of the population having an affair in the last year - making it the second most loyal town in the UK. 

But its Swindon in Wiltshire that's been dubbed the most faithful town in the UK with only 0.35 percent of people reporting as cheaters. 

Third most loyal was Dewsbury in West Yorkshire at 0.39 percent of the population staying true to their partner. 

Last month, a Facebook group called 'Are We Dating The Same Guy' that covers the Reading area appeared online, with its Reading-based founder saying she hope it would help keep women safe.

In 2022, Maidenhead was named as the cheating capital of Berkshire, as Illicit Encounters, found that 2,854 people were cheating on their partner.
