The owner of a popular sushi bar in Reading has announced that they are open again after a brief period of closure.
Dal Kim Mang who owns Oishi on Oxford Road said that he and the team are excited to welcome customers back.
"We closed for a while for renovation and are now very pleased to be welcoming everyone back to see the kind of things we have done," he said.
"We also had some issues with the lease, but everything is okay now."
Oishi is a Japanese restaurant serving ramen, teriyaki, and many different types of sushi.
Since the eatery opened its doors again a few weeks ago, Mr Mang said that lots of their regulars have been coming back to eat.
"Things are really picking up now which is just great," he said. "Lots of people have been coming in to see what we have done and to try our food."
Mr Mang has owned the restaurant on Oxford Road for five years now, and previously had another eatery by the same name in London.
He said that he initially decided to open a Japanese restaurant as he is very comfortable making that type of cuisine, despite not being of Japanese descent himself.
"It is the only cuisine that I feel comfortable making really," Mr Mang continued. "I am not Japanese myself, I am actually Burmese.
"I came here 25 years ago and ended up working in kitchens whilst looking for jobs."
Mr Mang said that he took to making food immediately, especially whilst working at a number of Japanese restaurants.
After working for some time at these types of eateries, he decided that he would try his hand at opening his own place.
"I was just working in a few Japanese restaurants randomly. So after that I just decided to open my own restaurant," he said.
"I started in London with my own place in Brentford, and it was very successful I have to say."
When the opportunity came up in Reading to have another sushi bar, Mr Mang and his team decided that they would take the leap and open up a second Oishi.
After the success of the Reading establishment, Mr Mang found that he could not be there so often at Oishi in London so eventually he made the hard decision of closing the restaurant there.
However, Reading Oishi is still going from strength to strength.
