Reading's Leep Utilities has secured its 150,000th customer connection to its last-mile water network.

The company marked the milestone by being appointed to manage the clean and wastewater networks for Persimmon Homes' Long Lands View development in North Yorkshire.

This development features over 160 new homes.

Leep was recently named a partner in Persimmon's New Appointments and Variations (NAV) adoption framework, enabling it to take on such projects.

The North Yorkshire development is just the latest in a series of projects awarded to Leep by the major housebuilder.

Earlier this year, Leep made history by becoming the first water company in the UK to migrate all 37,000 of its live customers onto Octopus Energy's Kraken platform.

This move enhanced customer service, digitised operations, and improved the company's environmental performance.

Customers of Persimmon Homes' Summerhill Park development in Maghull, Merseyside, have also benefited from this transition.

Leep manages the clean and wastewater networks for this development as well, which includes over 430 homes of varying sizes.

All customers at Summerhill Park now manage their bills and enjoy the benefits of the Kraken tech platform.

Leep Utilities has gained popularity among residential and commercial property companies across the UK due to its status as the largest adoption-only NAV.

The company's flexibility in operation and ability to work with developers to maximise commercial value has made it an appealing partner.

Leep provides asset valuations not linked to design and build components, allowing it to offer clear pricing bundles that stand out from competitors.

This approach is especially beneficial as the pressures on the UK water supply continue to grow.

Aspects such as environmental concerns, population growth, leakage, and the cost of living crisis have put increasing strain on resources.

Leep's innovative approach, transparent pricing, and the recent migration to the Kraken platform position the company well to tackle these challenges.

Dean Wigley, Group Head of Utility Assets & Engineering at Persimmon Homes, commenting on the collaboration, said: "At Persimmon Homes, we prioritise engaging with progressive partners who can embrace our ambitions as a business.

"The success of our communities depends on our approach to utilities management.

"Leep Utilities is a recently appointed water framework partner, and we're delighted to sign off on yet another contract and to meet this milestone with them.

"I look forward to building on the strength of our collaboration for the years to come."

Leep Utilities was formed as a joint venture between Ancala Partners LLP, an independent investment management firm, and The Peel Group, a UK-based private real estate investment and infrastructure company.
