A NEW interactive map has revealed where some of the most loved movies of all time were shot in the UK - and one was filmed right here in Berkshire.

Virgin Media has created the new interactive "Movie Mapper" showing where some of the most famous Blockbuster movies have been filmed across the country.

The map shows Berkshire pop up in several films, including Bracknell where where the Dursley house, Harry Potter's miserable childhood home is located.

The Harry Potter franchise, created by J.K. Rowling, follows the magical journey of a young wizard, Harry Potter, and his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Across seven books and film adaptations, the series explores themes of friendship, courage, and the eternal struggle between good and evil in the wizarding world.

Other films include Wimbledon (2004) a romantic comedy film that revolves around the world of professional tennis, which was filmed in Stoke Park near Slough.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was surprisingly filmed in Newbury (west Berkshire) at a former military base. This location once saw a 50,000 strong all-female protest used for a major battle scene in the Star Wars movie.

Greenham Common is long abandoned but was once airfields where American troops lived.

Berkshire is a popular choice for filmmakers to shoot movies. The county is home to several film studios and production facilities, such as Pinewood Studios (which is on the border of Berkshire and Buckinghamshire). This proximity to major film production hubs makes it an appealing choice for filmmakers.

Many well-known films and television series have been shot in Berkshire, including Downton Abbey filming in locations such as Highclere Castle.
