Flooding across Berkshire is expected to cause further upset to Residents after Storm Bert hit the UK with heavy rainfall and strong winds last weekend.

The extreme weather which came to a head on Sunday, November 24, has caused disruption to homes, rail and road works.

The heavy rain fall has meant that flood alerts and warnings have been issued across the South East, alongside two severe warnings in Reading.

These are across Reading Town Centre, Theale and Calcot and are causing property flooding and disruption on roads.

This is due to their proximity to the River Kennet.

The severe flooding also comes with several fallen trees which have blocked roads across the county.

Sandford Lane in Woodley was also completely sealed off after cars were unable to to travel through the deep flooding caused by the overflowing of the River Loddon.

Eleven other flood alerts have been issued across Berkshire, with the Environmental Agency saying that there is a possibility of flooding in other areas.

The Environment Agency has issued more than 100 warnings and nearly 150 floods alerts across England.

Alongside disruptions at Reading station yesterday, (25/11), trains between Reading and Newbury remain cancelled due to continued flooding on the track. Teo platforms have been closed at Newbury station.

The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said flood alerts were in place in the county and motorists should avoid driving through floodwater.
