Sources have confirmed that the Apres ski bar which is usually situated along the kennet side by The Oracle will not be returning this year.
Both the popular shopping centre and the bar itself have been contacted for comment, but it seems that at this point in time due to heavy flooding, it would be impractical for the drinks venue to return.
This comes as last year The Chronicle reported that the bar was flooded due to the risen levels of the Kennet, which saw many businesses submerged in river water.
The paving to shacks at the pop-up Après bar at The Oracle Riverside could be seen covered in water as a result of storms bringing rain that led to the river bursting its banks.
The rain also dampened the wooden paneling for the main bar shack.
Luckily, the flooding occurred shortly after the pop-up area closed for the final time this season. A staff member said that the area was closed after New Year’s Eve celebrations.
For those of you who are still craving your fix of riverside Christmas festivities, why not walk for another 10 minutes up the Kennet to The Fisherman's Cottage - a beautiful pub who will be serving treats all season.
