A golf event has raised over £12,000 for a charity.
On Tuesday, November 26, Wokefield Park Golf Club members handed over a cheque for £12,624 to representatives of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
The funds were raised through a charity golf day organised by club members John Mann, Tony Stanley, his wife Ali, and Dave Cooper.
Known as The Micky Denny Golf Day, the event is named after a former club member who had motor neurone disease and died just over two years ago.
Funds were gathered through various activities on the golf day itself, including hole sponsorship, auction prizes, raffle tickets, and competition entry fees.
The cheque was handed to Mary Dodds, who founded the Reading branch of the MNDA.
Motor neurone disease is a condition that affects the brain and nerves.
While there is no cure for the disease, treatments given to those affected can significantly reduce daily impact, and allow for people to live with the condition for years.
The organisers also expressed their gratitude to Devere Venues, the owners of Wokefield Park, for their continued support.
The money will go to support those affected by motor neurone disease.
