Flooding has closed the Sonning Bridge road - but locals say that drivers are ignoring the signs and are running the risk of becoming stuck in the flood waters.
The River Thames burst its banks near Sonning Bridge yesterday evening, flooding gardens, footpaths, and parts of the B478.
Wokingham Borough Council has closed the road from Coppa Club to The French Horn restaurant across Sonning Bridge.
But residents report that dozens of cars have continued to drive around the road closure signs and attempt to navigate the floodwaters.
"Someone will get stuck there and have to be rescued by firefighters," one passer-by told The Reading Chronicle. "It's only a matter of time."
There are five flood warnings and 11 flood alerts in place across Berkshire, according to the Environment Agency.
Flood warning mean that property flooding is expected.
The worst affected areas are expected to be around Shiplake and Wargrave.
