Great British Bake Off fans could soon get married at the show's filming location.

Welford Park, near Newbury, Berkshire, hosted the popular baking programme between 2014 and 2019, and from 2022 onwards.

Forest Edge Tipis, who have been using the park's woodland for wedding receptions for up to 28 days a year, are keen to extend this.

They have applied to host events from April to September, which would include building temporary tipis and tents for wedding ceremonies, catering, and lavatories.

There would also be parking space for up to 40 vehicles.

The company, which already runs bespoke weddings at other venues such as Sheepdrove Organic Farm in Lambourn, plans to return the site to woodland between October and March.

Welford Park, a family-owned estate, is part of a Local Wildlife Site and the North Wessex Downs National Landscape, and is known for its snowdrops and annual Spectacle of Light show.

Forest Edge Tipis said it does not think the proposal would have a "significant impact" on neighbours, adding that West Berkshire Council has received no noise complaints in the five years it has been running events at the park.

The council will decide on the application in the coming months.
