A man from Reading has been jailed for stealing £724 worth of goods from a Bracknell shop and several driving offences.
Javid Withers, aged 36, of Liverpool Road, Reading, was sentenced to six months in prison at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 28.
He was found guilty of four counts of theft from a shop and one count each of driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road/in a public place without due care and attention, use of a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance and driving whilst disqualified.
Between October and November this year, Withers stole around £724 worth of goods from a shop in Bracknell.
On November 13, Withers drove a car on Blewburton Walk in Bracknell without insurance, whilst disqualified from holding a driving licence and without due care and attention. He also drove on a footpath off Blewburton Walk.
Withers was arrested on November 26 and charged the next day.
Investigating officer Sergeant Nathan Hollis, of the Bracknell neighbourhood policing team, said: “I hope this sentence shows how seriously we take these offences.
“Withers showed no care for other road users and drove carelessly, putting lives in danger.
“We remain committed to taking disqualified and careless drivers off our roads and shoplifters off our streets.”
