A pizza takeaway in Reading could stay open later to continue to serve diners looking to satiate their pizza fix at night.

Pizza 2 Night in Southampton Street has been around for more than 15 years serving up pizzas, sides, desserts and soft drinks to hungry diners in the town.

Now, the operators of the takeaway want to extend delivery hours until 2am each night of the week.

Pizza 2 Night is currently open from 12pm to 1am Monday to Thursday, 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, and 1am on Sundays, according to the company website.

In order to serve food and soft drinks between 11pm to 5am the operators require a licence from Reading Borough Council.

While it's understood Pizza 2 Night already has a licence for late night refreshment past 11pm, an extension until 2am each night has meant the operators have had to submit a new licensing application to the council.

You can comment on the application by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk. The deadline for representations is Wednesday, October 16.

The takeaway in Reading received updated signage over the last year.

Plans to extend the building it occupies to create more space for a first-floor flat were refused in March this year.

The project would have involved building on top of an extension for the takeaway to create more space for the one-bedroom flat.

Pizza 2 Night is a chain of 23 takeaways in the South, with operators also running an eatery from 37 Bartholomew Street in Newbury.
