The 23-year-old centre-back lined up against Leicester City U21s in a 4-1 loss at Ricoh Arena.
Morrison captained a young Royals side on Monday and came through the whole game unscathed.
He is now pushing for a first-team recall when Royals take on Huddersfield Town at Madejski Stadium this Saturday (3pm ko).
Morrison, who joined Terriers on loan earlier in his career, has been sidelined since November when he damaged knee ligaments in a 1-1 home draw with QPR at the Madejski.
Sadly, his presence failed to inspire Royals U21s to victory over the Foxes.
Reading’s Harry Cardwell, 17, cancelled out a Jacob Blyth opener only for the Leicester player to score three more to take his tally to four for the game.
Meanwhile, Reading's FA Youth Cup semi-final first leg against Fulham will take place at Madejski Stadium next Tuesday (7pm ko). The return leg at Craven Cottage is set for Monday, April 7 (7.45pm ko).
As a result, Reading's U21s fixture against Manchester United, originally scheduled for next Monday at Madejski Stadium has now been postponed.
The fixture will now be played on Thursday, April 24 (7pm ko).
FA rules mean entry to the FA Youth Cup tie is set at £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
Fans can also meet Royals’ first-team players before the tie at a signing session at the Madejski Stadium megastore between 5.45pm and 6.30pm.
Reading reached the last four of the FA Youth Cup for the first time in the club’s history thanks to a dramatic victory over Liverpool on penalties.
