THE Palmer Academy were among the winners at the Performance Sports Group’s annual festival the University of Reading recently.
Around 500 primary school children took part in a series of events which were delivered for children in Year 6 (football), Year 5 (tag rugby), Year 4 (hockey) and Year 3 (kwik cricket).
The sports week was spread across four days and involved Wilson Primary School, Palmer Academy, Whitley Park, Christ the King, The Heights, Caversham Primary, Caversham Park, St Michael’s and St Anne’s.
Whitley Park headteacher Karen Salter said: “I have had nothing but positive feedback regarding the sports week.
"I know our staff were really positive regarding the children’s experience.
“It was a really excellent week and something we would definitely be keen to be part of again next year should the opportunity arise.”
The Performance Sports Group managing director, Chris Ellison, added: “I’d like to thank the University of Reading, our sponsors, all the school staff, children and our fantastic coaching team.
“This was a true team effort with everyone involved putting on a memorable experience of sport and higher education for children in Reading.”
