GALE McAuley, Mike Sparvell and Jane Wilmore won the mixed ‘waltz’ competition at West Berks with 83 points.
Steve Haylor, Georgie Seaman and James Hirst were one point behind in second place, while Ola Adams, Nobby Clark and Martin Neville were a further point back in third.
Graham Mort won the men’s midweek stableford with 40 points, while Andy Robbings secured second spot by winning a three-way tie on 38 with David Gentleman and Barry Lancaster.
Chris Hunt won a high-scoring Saturday stableford with 46 points, Chris Prior was second with 44 and John Harris was a further two points behind third.
In team events, West Berks’ ladies won at home to Calcot in the first round of the Duncan Trophy, a BCLGA inter-club knockout competition for all clubs in Berkshire represented by a team of five players with handicaps between 10 and 25.
Meanwhile, the men’s friendly matches got underway with a 4 -2 win at home to Sandford Springs, while the seniors started their season with a 5½-2½ win at home to Wrag Barn.
