SELF-TAUGHT golfer Kris Hallett was a proud man when he drove-in as captain of Theale GC.
Always a competitive sportsman, he played football, rugby and American football before a number of injuries led to him taking up golf 20 years ago.
He started playing at Wokefield Park before joining Theale 13 years ago, where he has been joined by his two sons, Matt and Zack, along with his eldest brother Nick.
Kris was down to single figures a few years ago, but now says he is heading in the opposite direction and currently plays off 10.
His crowning glory at Theale was to win the club championship in 2014, having the year before thrown away an eight-shot lead on the last three holes.
The course for the drive-in competition was in extremely good condition, shown by the fact the top five all scored in the 40s.
Luke Standing won with an outstanding 44 points thanks to "the best round I have ever played."
Runner-up was former club captain Scott Straker with 43 points, while third place went to Matt Hallett with 41 points after a countback.
