LIAM Moore urged Reading FC boss Jose Gomes to make his Royals’ next first-team captain following Paul McShane’s departure.
Moore was handed the armband in McShane’s absence after Chris Gunter was stripped of the vice-captaincy role under former boss Paul Clement.
And 26-year-old Moore admitted he hopes to be given the armband on a permanent basis once McShane's contract expires next month.
“It would be nice,” he said.
“I’ve absolutely loved it, it’s meant a lot to me. I tried to be vocal whether I had the armband or not but when you do have it, it gives you extra responsibility.
“I feel like my teammates look at me and know they can rely on me. It’s something I love, it’s a massive honour.”
Moore revealed he studied Manchester United legend John O’Shea’s conduct this season and wants to model himself on the 38-year-old.
And the defender stressed he will shake things if he’s selected as club captain.
“If it was a more formal role there are a couple of things I would change,” he added.
“I would want to be hands-on with the young lads and be demanding of people.
“I’m open to it.”
