DAN Taylor won round two of the Lambourn Trophy at West Berks and moved from 13th place after the first round to win the two-round competition by a single point from Colin Price.
He shot gross 83, nett 68 in the second round, just one shot clear of a three-way tie on nett 69 for second place with the order of Alan Capps (gross 89), Dave Ware (92) and Luke Prestoe 75 resolved by countback.
All the leaders from round one had good second rounds and were in contention for the overall title, but Taylor’s 69 took him into the winning spot with an aggregate score of 143.
Price was second on 144 and Mike Denny, Chris Ramsey and Johnny Corbridge tied for third place on 147 with the former taking the spoils on countback.
Renee Wheeler won the ladies’ midweek medal with a gross 95, nett 74. Mary Harwood followed her home with 97, nett 77, while Ola Adams with nett 79 beat Lyn Pell on countback to secure third place.
Brian Bailey scored 42 points to win the men’s midweek stableford by a single point from Steven Haylor, while Bob Ekins took third spot on 36.
Harwood and Gale McAuley won the West Berks round of the Coronation Foursomes and now wait to be invited to play in the regional finals of the national competition.
They won with 31 points winning on countback from Pat Treacy and Georgie Seaman. Wheeler and Jane Brackenbury were third with 28 points.
John Harris won the men’s Saturday stableford, scoring 39 points with Patrick Wilmore just two behind. Andy Grayson was third on 35.
Jack Findlater, Robin Land and Nick Bishop won the mixed Texas Scramble with 63.3.
Keith Wilkins, Carl McCartney and Pete Dye were close behind in second place with 63.5 while Dan Bowsher, Chris Prior and Christie Whelehan were hot on their heals with 63.9.
Taylor followed up his success in the Lambourn Trophy at the weekend with the best score of the day in the nine-hole Liddiard qualifying competition scoring 22 points.
A four-way tie for second spot on 21 points was resolved in the order of Martin Rolls, Tom McAuley, Darren Boulton and Degga Smith on count-back.
The men’s Saturday made it six straight wins maintaining its 100 per cent record when winning at home to Broome Manor 4½-1½.
