It was another case for same old, same old for Reading, writes Nicholas Tunney.
This is the footballing equivalent of the film Groundhog Day. Reading, at the moment, are turning up every match to concede an early goal, face an uphill struggle and play well second half and lay siege to their opponents goal.
You could have played this match for the last six games. These early goals are killing any gameplan Jose Gomes had before the game and all that hard work in training in the days before just get ruined.
The goal conceded here was a soft one. Eliassen did supremely well and Famara Diedhiou was left unmarked six yards out to expertly head home on 11 minutes. Simply not good enough.
Reading toiled away for the rest of the first half. Yakou Meite had a wonderful chance to equalise but was foiled by a great save from Dan Bentley. An equaliser then and I believe the Royals would have gone onto the win game.
The second half saw Reading produce a really good display and Gomes produced a tactical masterstroke, with Liam Moore moving into centre midfield and dictating matters.
The visitors had a golden chance to equalise when Ejaria played a delightful ball across to Puscas, but the Romanian somehow contrived to miss from six yards.
His confidence looks shot at the moment and that is not a good sign for a new player in a new country with a hefty price tag around his neck.
I believe that once he scores he will go on a good run but that first goal is proving hardest to come by.
His replacement, Lucas Boye, was far livelier and almost scored a wonderful goal but Bentley made a tremendous stop to deny him.
Overall, decent second half from Reading but much to ponder for Gomes and his squad over the next two weeks.
That international break is going to be crucial to put things right and that Preston game on October 19 needs to kickstart their campaign.
