TINA Mulford continued her trend of improving in every round of the Gillas Cup when she won the third and final round on Saturday, scoring 39 points and winning by seven clear shots from Sian Soanes, who took second spot on the day.
Three players – Mulford, Georgie Seaman and Mary Harwood all carried 35 points into the final – but Mulford’s performance in the final round was such that her aggregate total of 74 points was a full 11 ahead of Seaman, who took second place while Gale McAuley was a further two points back in third spot.
George Baker won the men’s midweek stableford with 37 points.
Dave Cannings was second on 35 and he was followed home by Billy Nicholson who was third with 33.
Seaman took the ladies’ midweek October medal with gross 108, nett 80 while Sandy Miller with nett 83 beat Jane Wilmore on countback to take second spot.
Derrick Perrin won the O’Connell Cup with 39 points on countback from Dave Gentleman.
His cause was greatly assisted when he holed out with an eight-iron to ace hole 11.
This was his second hole-in-one at West Berks, having achieved one at the seventh hole last year.
Nick Jones scored 37 points to take third spot.
