THE additional February RDAA match was fished on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Froxfield.
A total of 20 anglers were booked in and the matchday weather was overcast with rain early on, mild and with a very strong wind blowing.
The Kennet had a good colour and was towing slightly.
Total match weight on the day was 48lbs 6ozs at an average weight of 2lbs 7ozs per angler, and it was won by Simon Couling of TRBLAS.
Fishing on the first peg downstream of "Lock 69" on Froxfield A (Short Pound) section, he banked a bream of 3lbs, a perch of 1lb, along with skimmer bream, roach and gudgeon, fishing pole tactics, feeding groundbait, with red maggot on the hook to record a weight of 8lbs 13ozs.
Dave Bosher of Reading Fishing Club was second. Fishing the first peg downstream of the "overhead power cables" on Froxfield A (Short Pound) section, Bosher banked mainly perch with a few roach and skimmers.
He fished leger tactics, feeding caster, with caster on the hook to record a weight of 5lbs 15ozs.
Section weights: A (Wides and top of short pound) – 28lbs 5ozs; B section (bottom of short pound and turning bay) – 20lbs 1oz.
Bracknell Avocets held their match on the Salmon Cut stretch of the Kennet & Avon and they found fish very difficult to catch.
The winner.was Terry Smith with a perch of 2ozs.
This coming Sunday will see the Teams of Four Association match at Froxfield with the draw in the Borough Arms at 8am.
