Reading FC played out a frustrating 1-1 draw with Stoke City on the return to Championship action, conceding in second half injury time to give the visitors a share of the points.

Here are our player ratings from today's clash at the Madejski. 

Rafael - 6

In fairness to Rafael, he had little to do for long spells of the game.

He commanded his area well and collected numerous deliveries from the Stoke City flanks with real confidence. 

Chris Gunter - 6

Defensively Gunter was relatively solid and he got into some very nice positions as he advanced further up the pitch.

If his delivery had been better on the day - we could've seen a lot more chances created.

Liam Moore - 5

Produced some crucial blocks as Stoke pressed for an equaliser but was one of those at fault for Stoke's late goal.

Michael Morrison - 6

Much like Moore, Morrison did perform relatively well throughout the game, proving himself to be difficult to beat with a number of good challenges.

Omar Richards – 5

Richards was relatively assured in the left back position and grew into the game well.

Yakou Meite - 6

In the first half especially, Meite looked very bright - running directly at the Stoke back line and causing them problems as a result.

He did fade slightly throughout the game and wasted a good chance in the second half after he was found in space.

John Swift - 5

Nearly scored a stunning free kick to double Reading's advantage in the second half but was wasteful with his delivery on a number of occasions. 

Ovie Ejaria - 5

Showed occasional flashes of what we all know he is capable of but was quiet for long spells. Looked jaded when he was replaced.

Jordan Obita - 7

Obita caused Collins real problems before he was replaced, driving directly at the Stoke right-back and looking to get to the byline at any opportunity. 

Michael Olise - 7

The youngster continues to impress in the Reading midfield and produced another confident and mature display.

He was brave in possession and looked like he'd be the man to unlock the Stoke defence.

Lucas Joao - 7

Opened the scoring with a delicate finish and continued to look a threat to the Stoke City defence with a number of marauding runs at the back line.

Hugely unlucky to pick up an injury before the break.

SUBS

George Puscas - 4

Came on to replace Joao but was largely anonymous - although he did do well to hold the ball up and draw fouls to aleviate the pressure on the defence. 

Andy Rinomhota - 5

Came on and provided a good injection of energy into an otherwise tiring midfield.

Charlie Adam - 4

Conceded an uneccesary corner which led to the late equaliser.

Garath McCleary - 5

Showed his experience with a few nice touches and passes.
