Reading are in advanced negotiations with Portugese striker Pedro Mendes.
The 21-year-old striker has been linked with a move to Reading throughout the Summer period and it is now understood that the club are in discussions with Mendes as they hope to seal a deal.
It is also understood that former Reading FC manager Jose Gomes is interested in aqcuiring the services of the Sporting Lisbon striker.
Gomes is currently the manager of Spanish Segunda División side UD Almería.
Reports in Portugal had suggested that Reading had enquired about Mendes' availability in January, although no move materialised.
It is understood that Mendes is currently weighing up the two offers.
Should Mendes sign on the dotted line at the Madejski Stadium, it'll be the third arrival of the summer - following Josh Laurent and the permanent signing of Ovie Ejaria.
