The Royals face Manchester United in the FA Cup Fourth Round.

Here is everything you need to know.

Reading Chronicle:

Form

Paul Ince’s side will need a vast improvement from last time out if they have any chance of causing an upset tomorrow evening, after suffering a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Stoke City.

This followed a 2-2 draw to QPR, a game in which the Royals were 2-0 up after a first-half brace from Jeff Hendrick.

Reading’s last victory in any competition actually came in the FA Cup, after the Royals beat Watford 2-0 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium three weeks ago. Goals from Kelvin Abrefa and Shane Long would ensure Ince’s side set up a trip to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have lost just once since the start of November, with United boss Erik ten Hag leading the Red Devils to a fine run of form of late.

United have already won in one cup competition this week, after beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the League Cup.

A first United goal for new signing Wout Weghorst helped ten Hag’s side to a first leg victory, with United hoping to take that result into tomorrow evening’s FA Cup tie.

Team News

Paul Ince stated that there currently just 17 first team players who have been training ahead of the FA Cup tie, with injuries keeping key players out of the squad.

Liam Moore and Sam Hutchinson are still out for around four weeks, whilst Ovie Ejaria and Naby Sarr are also doubts for the game.

Ince did reveal some positive news ahead of the trip to Manchester, with the Royals boss confirming that experienced striker Andy Carroll is set to feature at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag revealed that winger Jadon Sancho will be a doubt for tomorrow’s game for Manchester United, whilst defender Axel Tuanzebe is likely to miss out.

Last Time Out: Manchester United 2-0 Reading ; Saturday, January 5, 2019

Two first half goals for Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side ensured the Royals would not cause an upset in the FA Cup back in 2019.

Juan Mata scored a penalty after 22 minutes to put United in front at Old Trafford, before Romelu Lukaku put the Red Devils two up before half time, in what ultimately decide the game.

The last two times Reading have face Manchester United have been in the FA Cup. However, the Royals are yet to cause an upset against the Red Devils recent years, with Reading’s only ever win against the Manchester United back in 1927.
