Reading have been linked with Nottingham Forest pair Lyle Taylor and Cafu, according to Sky Sports.
The Royals have made just one signing this month and require current players to move on before anyone can come in.
The Reds have been busy since their Premier League return, signing more than 20 players, so Championship stalwarts Taylor and Cafu could be surplus to requirements.
With just one league appearance between them, both would surely look to play regular minutes for the final few months of the season.

Reading boss Paul Ince has made it clear that he would like another midfielder before the 11pm deadline, with Cafu filling that brief, but it is unclear whether Taylor would fit alongside the likes of Lucas Joao, Shane Long, Yakou Meite and Andy Carroll.
There is almost 150 Championship matches of experience between the two, both playing key roles in their promotion last campaign.
