Reading boss Paul Ince believes midfielder Jeff Hendrick feels like 'part of us' despite being contracted to Newcastle United.

One of six loanees at the club, Hendrick has scored three goals since the turn of the year, crucial goals in draws against Queens Park Rangers and Watford.

Speaking on the impact of the Republic of Ireland international, the former England captain was full of praise for the 31-year-old.

"He’s a wonderful player and a proper professional," he said. "For someone who is on loan from Newcastle – he feels like he is part of us.

“A lot of loanees will know they are going back in three months’ time and not want to be part of it. But he wants to be part of the club. And I’m so pleased he has started adding goals to his performances."

Hendrick is under contract with Eddie Howe's Magpies until summer 2024.

Only Thomas Ince has scored more for the club this season, tied with former Newcastle teammate Andy Carroll on four strikes so far.
