Former Reading captain Liam Moore looks set for his long-awaited comeback in tomorrow’s clash with Rotherham United.
The 30-year-old, who has over 200 club appearances but was ousted under former boss Veljko Paunovic, suffered a career-threatening injury while on loan with Stoke City.
After over a calendar year out, the former England Under-21 international played 45 minutes for Noel Hunt’s youth side on Friday and could be involved for the first team against the Millers.
Speaking after a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland on Saturday, boss Paul Ince said: “He got 45 minutes so hopefully. We need to see when we get back down south and see how the players feel. Fingers crossed he will be okay to be a part on Tuesday.”
His last appearance for the Royals came in November 2021, a 1-0 defeat to West Brom in which he played 75 minutes.
First arriving in 2016, only Yakou Meite is the only other Jaap Stam arrival still in Berkshire.
With only four months remaining on his contract, the summer looks likely to end a seven year association with the Royals.
