There were low scores all round as Reading were hit for five at in-form Middlesbrough.
Take a look below.
Dean Bouzanis, 5: Stepping in with Joe Lumley ineligible against his parent club, the Aussie looked shaky. His distribution was questionable all afternoon and potentially could have done better for one or two of the goals.
Andy Yiadom, 4: Back in his natural position, but did not cover himself in glory. Plenty of crosses came in from his side and he gave away a penalty- albeit a dubious one.
Amadou Mbengue, 4: A fan favourite who has excelled this season, the youngster struggled at the Riverside. Giving the ball away within two minutes, it was a sign of things to come as his mistake in stoppage time gave the hosts a two-goal lead.
Naby Sarr, 5: Won his headers and made some decent tackles but conceded five goals and had some questionable decision-making.
Tom McIntyre, 4: Both full-backs struggled and both full-backs gave away penalties. In an unnatural position, the Academy graduate struggled throughout.
Cesare Casadei, 4: The youngster never got into the game and struggled with Boro's intensity all match. A big learning curve for the Chelsea loanee.
Jeff Hendrick, 5: Did very little throughout, but was a willing runner in the midfield. Reading never had control of the game and the midfield were overrun consistently.
Tom Ince, 4: Nobody can doubt his energy or effort, but after the first two or three goals went in his head went and he had little impact on the game. Picked up a cheap yellow card early on.
Shane Long, 4: Had little impact in an unnatural position. Should have been awarded a stonewall penalty.
Yakou Meite, 4: Attempted to take players on but end product was poor. Reading failed to get the best out of last week's star performer.
Substitutes
Tom Holmes, Tyrese Fornah, Femi Azeez, n/a: All came on with 20 minutes to go and had no impact on the game. Positive for the vice-captain to return after four weeks out injured.
Lucas Joao, n/a: Again, good to see the striker after four weeks out. However, the Angola international made no difference to the result.
Nesta Guinness-Walker, n/a: 10 minute cameo for the full-back, game was over by the time the youngster got on the field.
Andy Carroll, 5: Won headers and held the ball up reasonably well, but had no sniff of a goal.
