Iconic Reading boss Steve Coppell has revealed that the idea of managing abroad interests him.
The mastermind behind the record-breaking Championship title victory in 2006, Coppell is equally loved at Selhurst Park where he had multiple spells and took Crystal Palace into the 1990 FA Cup Final.
Now 67, he has not managed in England since 2010- but he spent three years in India from 2016 until 2019.
Quizzed on a potential return- following the appointments of fellow veterans Neil Warnock and Roy Hodgson- Coppell admitted that he feels it is time for younger managers to get on the ladder.
"From my Crystal Palace connections I’ve had so many people asking me, before Roy [Hodgson] was appointed about whether I would be interested in going back. My answer to them was that I was too young," he joked on the 1871 Podcast. "Roy going back in at 74 and Neil [Warnock] going back at whatever age he professes to be- I wouldn’t go back into English football. My last three years were coaching in India, as an experience of life I would love to do something like that again.
"The wheel turns. It’s wrong for old coaches to outstay their welcome. I could do, I know if I really pushed people I could probably nick a job somewhere. Finland? Somewhere off the beaten track."
