Former Reading stars Noel Hunt and John O'Shea are among the early favourites for the full-time managers job, according to the bookmakers.
It has been confirmed that Hunt- who played 160 times during five years as a player as well as managing the Under-21s- has taken over from Paul Ince until the end of the season.
With five matches to keep the club in the Championship, where they are currently two points adrift of safety, Director of Football Operations Mark Bowen has stated that he is beginning a search for a permanent successor.
According to BetVictor, former Oxford United and MK Dons boss Karl Robinson is favourite, at 5/4.
Hunt is 3/1 to get the role permanently, followed by former Ireland teammate O'Shea.
The centre-back played 11 times for the Royals in 2018/19, his final season before retiring.
Currently assistant coach at Stoke City and Republic of Ireland, the former Manchester United star has never managed at first-team level.
Luton Town legend Nathan Jones, who was sacked by Premier League Southampton earlier this year, is available at 10/1, with Bolton Wanderers chief Ian Evatt at 20/1.
