Four youth sides from Berkshire and Buckinghamshire have progressed to the regional stage of the Pokémon Futsal Youth Cup.
A popular small-sided form of football, it is played inside and promotes close-control and skill which can be carried over into a regular game of football.
15 teams took part across a range of age-groups, and four won their matches to earn the right to represent the counties.
Thatcham & Newbury U12 Girls, U10 Youth Wokingham & Emmbrook, U12 Youth Eldon Celtic and U14 Youth MK Mavericks were all successful.
Following the culmination of the county finals, successful teams will progress to the regional finals in May/June before competing for the chance to participate in the national finals this summer.
Louise Gear, Head of Development at The FA added: “What an exciting start to this year’s Pokémon Futsal Youth Cup. It has been fantastic to see so many young players from clubs up and down the country taking part and enjoying the competition, and we look forward to seeing who will be crowned winners come the finals.”
