Reading boss Noel Hunt is hopeful that some injured players could return for the clash with Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
The final home game of the season, two wins out of two matches will give the Royals a fighting chance of surviving in the Championship- although the club are without a win in 11 matches.
Long-term absentees Shane Long and Tom McIntyre returned to the squad on Saturday and gained second half minutes during the 2-1 defeat to Coventry City.
Hunt- the interim boss until the end of the season after Paul Ince's sacking- has hinted that Yakou Meite and Junior Hoilett could still have parts to play this campaign.
"They’re breaking their backsides to come and play. They’re weeks and months ahead of schedule to play. They did great today when they came on. I didn’t want to be using them but needs must at this time of the season. We’re very grateful and we will look to see what we can do for Saturday.
"They’re back on the grass next week [Meite and Hoilett], whether next week will come too soon for them I’m not too sure. We’ll monitor and I know with the characters they are they will put their best foot forward and try to play."
The final day of the season is 21st hosting 22nd as over 2,000 Royals travel to Huddersfield Town for a final day relegation shoot-out.
