Reading interim boss Noel Hunt slammed the 'commitment' of star striker Lucas Joao after his no show against Huddersfield Town in the final match.
The 29-year-old has scored over 40 goals for the club since his arrival in 2019, but his contract is set to expire next month.
Alongside fan favourite Yakou Meite, and the injured Andy Carroll, plenty of youngsters got their chance in Monday's 2-0 defeat in Yorkshire.
Speaking to BBC Radio Berkshire after the match, Hunt could hardly contain his anger with the Angolan international.
"I don't want to talk about Lucas," he said. "I think we've wasted enough time on people who aren't committed to giving 100% to the club. I got a text message on Thursday after the game and after that it was best to just leave it at that in terms of commitment.”
The former Sheffield Wednesday forward has scored seven goals in 34 appearances this season, his joint lowest individual campaign since joining the club.
