Former Reading favourite Lucas Joao is 'under consideration' at Championship promotion hopefuls Watford, the Reading Chronicle understands.
The Hornets, under the new management of former West Brom and Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael, finished 11th last season, under rumoured Royal target Chris Wilder, and six points outside the play-offs.
Joao scored seven goals last season, and more than 40 in total, during four years in Berkshire after a £5m move in 2019.
Released at the end of the season after relegation to League One, the former Sheffield Wednesday forward reportedly refused to play on the final day after the drop had been confirmed.
The 29-year-old will not be short of suitors, and the Reading Chronicle understand that officials at Vicarage Road are seriously considering taking the Angola international back into the second tier.
It is thought that Ismael wants to bring in two forwards as Keinan Davis returns to Aston Villa after his loan.
Watford looked at Joao last summer but he saw out the final year of his deal with Reading.
