The 28-year-old centre-back spent over a decade on the books at Goodison Park, featuring nine times for the Toffees in five years.
Having seven loan spells away from the Premier League, the Warrington-born defender joined Shrewsbury Town permanently in 2021 after a loan spell at New Meadow.
Scoring six times in 32 appearances for Salop last season, he is out of contract next month.
