Popular former Reading defender Jordan Obita is looking forward to linking up with iconic boss Brian McDermott at Hibernian.
Obita played over 200 times for the club after rising through the youth set-up, winning the Player of the Season award for 2013/14.
Suffering with long-term injuries, the winger-turned-full-back was released in 2020 before going on to play almost 100 times for Wycombe Wanderers in League One.
Deciding against signing a new deal at Adams Park, 'Hibs' tempted the 29-year-old up to Edinburgh.
McDermott, who famously lead the Royals to the Premier League in 2012, was appointed Director of Football at Easter Road over the summer, working alongside former first-team manager Lee Johnson.
"I played under Lee in his first job at Oldham- I was only there for a month," Obita said. "With Brian, I think I played under him in the Premier League year and his second time around in the Championship. Two very experienced managers and hopefully we can all do well together. I think they both had me on their lists to bring me up here, which is always a good sign. I’m looking forward to working with them again."
Not the only Reading connection, fan favourite Adam Le Fondre was signed earlier in the month.
Teammates in RG2, 'Alfie' scored 41 goals in 110 appearances for the club as they nearly won two promotions to the Premier League.
Speaking on linking up with his former teammate, Obita added: "He’s a great guy. I played with him at Reading and obviously now I’m joining back up with him here at Hibs."
