Reading have confirmed the signing of Cambridge United midfielder Harvey Knibbs on a three year deal.
The 24-year-old is a free agent after departing the U's over the summer, having spent four years at the Abbey Stadium.
An Aston Villa youth product, the midfielder picked up 10 goal contributions in 2022/23 and scored nine in the previous season.
Previously under a transfer embargo for three EFL breaches, including an unpaid tax bill, issues have since been resolved and the Royals are free to dip into the market.
Head of Football Operations, Mark Bowen, said “Harvey has been on our radar for some time now and we are very pleased he has agreed to sign a contract with us. Young, quick, hungry, hard-working and with a natural creative spark, I am delighted he has agreed to be a part of what we are striving to achieve at Reading.”

The Reading Chronicle first referenced the story a fortnight ago, with Knibbs travelling with the squad on the pre-season trip to Spain.
Manager Ruben Selles is still yet to be confirmed, but is close to completing his visa and is expected to be announced in the coming days.
