Reading are keen on taking Manchester United midfielder Charlie Savage for the season to help solve the midfield problem.
Without a recognised central midfielder in the squad, it remains a priority for the club as the season kicks off in just three weeks.
Still only 20, the Wales Under-21 international played 15 times on loan for relegated Forest Green Rovers last season.
Training with Erik ten Hag's first team squad over pre-season, the youngster even wore the captain's armband temporarily in a friendly in Norway.
Reading have now joined the chase for Charlie Savage and have made an approach to Manchester United for the midfielder. #readingfc #MUFC

Not short of interest, Football Insider have stated that Swansea City, Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan Athletic are among the club's rivaling the Royals for his signature.
The son of former Wales captain Robbie Savage, who played his last ever professional match at the SCL Stadium in 2011, Charlie is highly-rated by those at Old Trafford.
So far, Harvey Knibbs and Sam Smith remain the only additions to Ruben Selles' squad- while Amadou Mbengue signed a new deal to remain at the club.
